An initiative by the manufacturers’ associations

On the initiative of the manufacturers’ associations BPI, Pharma Deutschland, Pro Generika, and vfa, the “diGItal Pilot Project” on electronic product informartion is currently carried out in Germany.

The motivation behind this project on the part of the manufacturers’ associations is to advance electronic product information and promote its uniform and coordinated implementation in Germany in the interests of all stakeholders. There is a shared conviction that patient information in a structured format is the way forward. ACS PharmaProtect:
Trusted sponsor of the project

ACS PharmaProtect GmbH operates and develops the database system for the pharmaceutical industry in Germany as part of the legally mandated National Medicines Verification System (NMVS) of securPharm e.V. to protect the legal supply chains for prescription medicines.

With the successful operation of this database, ACS PharmaProtect demonstrates its high level of technical expertise and its ability to provide a trusted source for fundamental data. ACS PharmaProtect already has contractual relationships with all companies that manufacture prescription medicines. In addition, ACS PharmaProtect is supported by the entire pharmaceutical industry.

Consequently, ACS PharmaProtect was selected as the project sponsor.

Dr.-Ing. Anne Linner

Ms. Linner is System Owner at ACS PharmaProtect GmbH and technical project manager for the pilot project. As a computer scientist and requirements manager, she is responsible for the technical implementation of the diGItal system in accordance with the requirements and necessary specifications.

With her many years of experience in large software projects and, in particular, her focus on customer-oriented approaches and broad technical expertise in various industries, she is making a significant contribution to the success of the system. In doing so, she ensures that the quality and integrity of ACS PharmaProtect GmbH, which is well known in the field of counterfeit protection for pharmaceuticals, is also guaranteed for the diGItal system.

Implementation supported by a team of experts

Due to the complex nature of the subject matter and the many activities taking place in parallel, ACS PharmaProtect is supported by two experts in project management and in content and technology issues.

Dr. Norbert Gerbsch (IGES Institut)

Mr. Gerbsch heads the Public Affairs department at the IGES Institute and is involved in project work. He has held management positions in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries as well as at university and private research institutions for over 25 years.

Mr. Gerbsch brings to the diGItal pilot project the IGES Institute’s analytical and methodological expertise, which has been proven in numerous studies, as well as his professional experience with regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical companies and his involvement in major digitization projects such as the implementation of the EU Falsified Medicines Directive.

Paul Kamm (Rote Liste Service)

Mr. Kamm currently works as Patient Solutions Product Owner at Rote Liste Service GmbH. With over six years of experience in digital health, Mr. Kamm has in-depth knowledge of patient-centered digitalization in healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry. Previously, Mr. Kamm worked as a management consultant, where he gained valuable experience in digital transformation in the life sciences and health sector.
